Patrick had gone down to sickbay once he heard that Charybdis was there. He had feared the worst, but the doctor had assured him that she was fine. He wanted to speak with her, but the doctor had insisted that she be allowed to rest. Patrick deferred to the medicine man, though he had a sinking suspicion of ulterior motives.
Returning to his quarters he took his time undressing and decided to shower. Though it a luxury and perhaps even a drain on resources, Patrick had personally installed a real old fsshioned water shower. He didn't use it often, but tonight was going to be one of those nights. He pushed the button on the wall panel and the sonic shower was altered to the water shower. He stepped in and activated it, the water cascading down onto his body. It was soothing to him, almost like being back home.
He remained in the shower for a very long time, nearly half an hour. It helped to relax him, while his mind raced with thoughts regarding both the mission and of Charybdis. This would be the first night alone since they had become a couple, and while this was easier to deal with as a man than it would be for a female, he nonetheless did have emotions regarding it.
He went to bed after the shower, tossing and turning to get used to being in bed alone. Once asleep, it was not very restful. He found that while he could sleep, he had gotten used to having a furnace next to him, to feeling her soft supple body mold to him. It was almost comical seeing the two of them together in bed asleep, as one might think that one or the other would surely suffocate beneath her bountiful bust. At yet, he slept, restlessly, moving about like a man who was being tortured. If absence made the heart grow fonder, he would surely never allow for it again if he could help it. He slept, and then, like clockwork, he awoke at 0457 and reminded himself that he was in bed alone, that she was in sickbay, and that he needed to get up and ready for the shuttle trip that was only a little more than an hour from now.
Off: Rough night for the captain. But an away mission might return him to form.
