Mission: Operation: Risa!
Location: Risa, Rome arcology, the seedy section
Timeline: 2265

Breakout: From Fedepedia, the Federation encyclopedia

A prison escape or breakout is the act of a detained individual leaving imprisonment through unofficial or illegal ways. Normally, when this occurs, an effort is made on the part of authorities to recapture them and return them to their original detainers. Escaping from legal imprisonment is also a criminal offense in many places, and it is highly likely to result in time being added to the inmate's sentence, as well as the inmate being placed under increased security. Escaping from illegal imprisonment would naturally be seen as an imperative, as it is often a precursor to human trafficking, torture or murder.

"Holy Mud pools, Fi... you okay?" Yuna headed over to the scot to see if she could help. Char grabbed her missing boot, shoved her foot back into it then grabbed Yuna by the waist and hoisted her into the air.

"Cut her down, go, go!" she said, hoisting the Trill up to deposit first her rear, then her feet up on the Vulcan's shoulders, getting her up to where she could rescue the distressed engineer.

"Jus peachy" Fi grunted, "you?" The engineer was turning nearly as purple as her fluff of skirts.

"Yuna, just cut her down..." the curvaceous commander's was attempting to keep her voice reassuring, but the tension in it was evident to anyone within earshot.

Yuna pulled the knife out again and made short work of the bonds. "Easy girl... just ease your way down," she coaxed, supporting the Scot so she didn't faceplant the ground.

The alien eased both of them down gently, then began inspecting them both for injuries. A quick once-over revealed bruises and a few rather ugly scrapes, but no serious injury.

"Jay-sus," Fi said with a sigh of relief then took a deep breath. "Thanks..."

"Couldn't have done it without your tools," Char said with a smile, then hugged the wee engineer to her bosom briefly, letting her go quickly since she was already oxygen deprived. "Okay... Selune, you mobile yet, helmsman?"

Working the last strands from around her body, Selune answered, "About to be..." before standing and quietly padding to the others.

"Okay... we've still got our civilian over there to look after, so Yuna, let's get him cut loose and get an assessment of our situation. Selune, you're by far the quietest... see if you can find the exit and don't be seen or get caught. Fi, these guys have disruptors and we've got nothing... can you come up with an equalizer for us?

"I got a wheelbarrow and a holocaust cloak?" the redhead quipped as she tried to rub feeling back into her arms.

"Well why didn't you list that amongst our assets?" Chary promptly and rather surprisingly replied.

Fiona looked a bit startled, then grinned broadly back at her buxom buddy, who winked at her.

Nodding before turning to the door, Selune pressed her ear against it. Waiting for several seconds to be absolutely sure the coast would be clear. she tried the door only to find it blessedly unlocked. Apparently, the thought of the girls escaping their bindings hadn't occurred to their captors. Carefully inching it open, cringing at the painfully loud creak which only Chary would have heard, she peeking into the hallway and found herself looking down an empty passage with several doors on each side.

It ended in a set of stairs from which the music washed down from - interspersed with loud hoots and cheers. It still sounded like a club of some sort but definitely not the kind they had just come from. She began to silently pad her way down the corridor, tail swishing as she concentrated, before freezing midstep as clear voices drifted from one of the last doors.

Waiting patiently, she determined they weren't about to move and shuffled forward a little more until she was sure which room they were in, from the sound of it there was at least three of them and she was fairly sure she recognized the voices as belonging to the men from the alley. Last door on the right, she noted to herself before retreating back the way she had came, carefully closing the door behind her.

Yuna headed over to their charge and carefully cut the ropes binding him. "Hey... dude... wake up... we need you awake now," she tapped his noggin gently to try and rouse him. He grumbled but opened his eyes.

"I so tired... ow, my face hurt..." he mumbled as she hauled him to his feet.

"Come on soldier, on your feet and let's bust some ass outta here," Yuna grunted as she supported his wobbly weight.

"I no soldier, I sell noodle..." he muttered as he staggered along with her. It was clear that he would not get far under his own power, and Yuna was going to need her hands free if there was trouble.

"Obviously not ENOUGH Noodle," Yuna grumped, hoisting him up and parking him against another wall before returning to her comrades.

"Game plan, gals?" Yuna asked.

Fiona was poking around through the room looking for possible weapons, "Get em... thet seems tae be straight forward. My purse is gone, along with my PDD, ident, phaser and communicator." she sighed. " Oh and they took tha ale... tha' boogers."

"Looks like we're in one of the cold storage room for some kind oov club or restaurant."

"Well, we're definitely in a different place," Selune stated as she began to relay the facts in her head, "The door was unlocked, so they probably won't be expecting anything from us but there's at least three of the guys from earlier in a room before the stairs at the end of the hallway. I'm not sure what club we're in but it's a lot quieter but still sounds like there's quite a few people upstairs. Heard plenty of hooting and cheering, I don't really get what's happening up there," she paused trying to think of any missed details before shrugging and looking to Chary.

"Good work, Lieutenant. All right..." the curvaceous commander considered for a few seconds, then began pointing and ordering. "Selune, carry the wounded civilian. Your strongest suit is evasion, so I'm making his safety your priority. Keep him alive, and we're getting him out of here. After all, Yuna made him a promise, and we're gonna keep it."

Frowning, Selune looked back at the man who had slumped back to a sitting position as she tried to work out how she would be able to help while holding his weight. She didn't object, but it did play across her mind that she wouldn't evading much while dragging him around.

"I wont let some random thugs get the better of us," Yuna stated with determination, she was pissed, tired, now hungry and mad as all get out.

"Damn right. As for the rest of this, we're going to have to take this as it comes... we need to take out those three down the hall quickly and quietly. Unless Fi has something else stashed somewhere in that frilly frock of hers like a flash-bang grenade, I think we'll have to do this the old-fashioned way. Hit them fast and hard, and then Selune take the lead up the stairs to scout and we'll make our plans from there. Questions?"

The scot shook her head, "Nae, left that in me trousers..." she actually sounded somewhat serious. She looked disdainfully down at her frilly frock and shrugged, "They got everythin' boot my spare knife an," she fished in the snug little top, "ah.." she produced a dainty compact. "Anyone need to powder their nose?" she grinned ruefully, "It wouldna fit in me purse with the toolkit an PDD and sooch."

If the Vulcan vixen was still feeling the effects of the heavy drinking she had been doing earlier, it certainly didn't show. She chuckled at Fi's joke, but seemed to be in command of her faculties and ready for action.

"Kin I make a suggestion?" Fi inquired, "Selune has natural weapons an better hearing an sooch then moost oov us. She wuid make a right proper point person," the little scott sighed, "Let me take tha' wuinded noodle man. I'm stronger then I look. Got to be able to schelp parts an sooch with tha boyos."

"Hrmf..." Charybdis considered for a second and nodded. "Agreed, good point Fi. Selune, you're stealth point, Yuna and I are combat point- you follow us in when we make a move. Let's take out those three in the front room, Lieutenant... I'm in the mood to break someone's jaw."

Fi took off her heels and set them over to one side then took off her stockings and dumped them as well. "Ah looved those shoes," she said a bit wistfully then motioned for Selune to transfer the semi-conscious man over to her. "Damned if I'm gaen tae twist my ankle for tha sake oov fashion," she settled him comfortably and said, "Yuna, be a loov an' bring me swiss army knife along... it's a family heirloom."

"Sure thing," Yuna replied, tucking the small knife into her cleavage to keep it safe. No one would be going there to retrieve it except her.

With the door open there was more light in the storage room that they'd been detained in. There were shelves off to the side with bottles of booze and canned goods stacked on them. Large objects hung from the ceiling on hooks and chains. Hams, wheels of cheese, skins of oil, Sausages, ropes of peppers and garlic plus more exotic things that they didn't immediately recognize. There were sacks of dry goods as well.

Yuna looked around, trying to find something she could use as a weapon. There were chains... too bulky, but the hooks could come in handy. She grabbed one and tested it for weight and strength. If nothing else she could bludgeon someone with it.

While she was looking she found a set of ice hooks. Lighter than the meat hooks but strong and rather vicious. They were designed to pick up 20lb blocks of ice and move them. The design was pretty standard throughout the galaxies, just over a foot long, hooked and sharpened points. Not an elegant weapon but it would certainly do some damage.

Having nowhere to stash the hooks, Celes simply carried one in each hand, ready and willing to use them if necessary. She'd die for her new found friends if she had to.

Evidently this was the long term supply room for the bar/restaurant upstairs. The hallway was dingy and dirty, while the floors and walls showed some water damage and the signs of long term smoke exposure. There were two other doors- one marked "Office" and the other was unlabeled. There was light coming out from under the unlabeled door - that's where Selune said she heard three thugs.

The stairs leading up were fairly solid looking. Up at the top of the door there was a round object. the security chief recognized it as the speaker for a standard door chime. If the door opened it would ring down here... and possibly elsewhere. Honest shop owners used such things to alert them when someone was entering their stores. Criminals used them as early warning systems for raids and such.

"We need to deactivate that," Yuna muttered as she stepped up closer, examining the rudimentary device. Before thinking the whole situation through, she placed one of the picks on the ground, using the other to lever the device off the wall. With a heave the device came free, dangling now from broken wires in the wall. Hopefully it didn't have a failsafe.

Aside from the crunching sound and some clattering from the falling debris, the device remained silent.

"That's what I'm talkin about," Yuna smirked to herself as the device clattered to the floor. With the alarm system disabled, they were free to leave.

"All right- three in the office. Fiona, lag behind, we'll give you the signal to catch up to us. Selune, lead and confirm positioning if possible then let us go in first. Yuna, cripple but no deadly force unless necessary. Questions?" The first officer had actually struck a commanding pose for this. She certainly hoped the confidence she was trying to exude was contagious.

"Cripple? I can work with that" Celes replied, readying her spikes for the opportune moment.

Fi gave her a thumbs up.

"All right then, let's move with a purpose, ladies." The pointy-eared executive grabbed Selune gently, then pushed her to the forefront, following closely behind her as the quintet exited into the hallway, preparing for mayhem.
