Mission: Taking Chances
Location: USS Bonne Chance, Deck 18, Main Shuttle Hangar
Timeline: 2265

Patrick arrived in the shuttlebay and walked over to the Odin. It was open and was obviously in the middle of preflight. entering it, he found Andurean and Ak'Ahar inside, going over the preflight check list. "Good morning gentlemen." he said. They both responded in kind.

The doors to the shuttlebay opened once more and Patrick looked to see who it was. from around the corner of another shuttle walked Yuna, looking more or less stoic as usual. She looked to be ready for the away mission, with phasers holstered at her hip. She and Patrick greeted one another as she entered the shuttle.

Last to come in was Charybdis and Dr. McKenzie. The two of them were chatting as they approached the shuttle. Siivas walked past Patrick while Charybdis stopped short of the shuttle. Patrick walked out of the shuttle and over to her.

"Now lieutenant, I expect things to run by the book while we are gone. Keep the sensors running and keep an ear out in case we need to be rescued." He was doing his best to be serious and professional.

"Aye sir. I won't put a scratch on her." she replied.

Throwing caution to the wind in a devil may care way, Patrick embraced her, hugging her tightly and then kissing her tenderly. "Don't worry baby, I'll be back before you know it."

She kept her smile on her face, doing a good job of holding back the fear. "You better be. I'll chase you down in the next life if you die on me."

It was both a joke and serious all at the same time, and he knew. He kissed her again. "I love you." He turned and walked back into the shuttle, closing the hatch. She backed away and then watched as the shuttle launched, two lonely tears trickling down her cheeks.

Charybdis exited the shuttlebay and made her way to the bridge, allowing it to fully dawn on her that she was suddenly in command for the next day or two.

The shuttle jumped to warp once it was clear of the ship, heading for the Orion station that was only a few hours away. It was a good thing too, because the shuttle was not built for long trips.
