Mission: Operation: Risa!
Location: Risa, Roma Arcology
Timeline: 2265

Makeover: From Fedepedia, the Federation encyclopedia

A makeover is a term applied to changing one's appearance, sometimes through clothing or cosmetics. Makeovers can range from something as simple as a new haircut or hairstyle, to the use of cosmetic surgery, to the extreme of the implantation of dental veneers, eye-color-changing contact lenses, and the use of appearance-altering surgeries.

Fiona spread her bags of baubles out on the gigantic white ottoman in the main area, then curled up on the couch to admire the sunset that was beginning to take on a spectrum of wonderful colors outside their bank of windows. Someone had opened the sliding doors, and the distant sounds of the ocean supplied a perfect soundtrack to the visual spectacle taking place over the waves.

The engineer fluffed out the skirts of her aubergine ombre cocktail dress then smoothed them so that they wouldn't get crushed from sitting. The dress had a fitted bodice that was snug to just below the breasts, where it flared out into a flirty little skirt that ended at just below mid thigh. It ranged in shade from an almost grey lilac at the top to a nearly black deep purple at the hem.

The Vulcan vixen strode out of the north wing like she ruled the universe, clad all in shiny black stretchy fabrics and leather that creaked subtly as she sashayed. Her boots made a bit of a heavy noise as she stepped, and when she loomed over the petite scot, their size difference was quite pronounced. She grinned down at the diminutive redhead, leaned forward a tad, spread her arms low as she snapped her fingers and smirked.

"I am woman, hear me roar," she giggled. The jewelry collection laid out on the ottoman caught her eye, and Char smoothly slid down to squat next to it to pluck out a singular piece. A metal starburst of offset design encrusted with clear stones, with four triangular dark stones offset to the compass points which set the framing for a large round stone so blue as to be nearly black, that was polished to reflect a starburst pattern. The stone itself had to be nearly 30 mm, and with the setting it had to be 60 mm. Peering carefully into the stone, she was immediately enchanted by it.

"Fi, this is breathtaking... may I borrow it?" she asked, not taking her eyes off the beautifully polished and worked stone.

Fiona's attention drifted away from the sunset and she gave Char a grin. "Black... and leather, verra nice. Ah sure... go fer it. Tis all fair game." Charybdis expertly maneuvered the chain clasp under her hair and set it to hang just below the notch between her clearly defined collarbones, when she caught sight of Yuna.

Emerging from her room, Yuna was dressed uncharacteristically glamorously, but her hair was still stringy and wet from the shower. She had no idea what the heck she was going to do with it - and in traditional Trill hair fashion - it refused to be anything other than limp and brown.

"Umm... help please?" She pointed to her wet hair and shrugged.

Fiona looked Yuna over. "Good choice. I love purple!" she said with a smile. Her eyes narrowed slightly " What d'ya think Char... French braid so thet her looverly spots are shown off?"

"Brilliant. Up and away, completely functional for the gal on the go, but glamorous enough to make that dress sing. Um, may we...?" The pointy-eared minx moved in on the security chief with fingers extended, obviously ready to run her fingers through the damp mass of dark locks. Then she held up a finger and dashed off to get her megawattage hair dryer and styling products, the huge heavy boots she was wearing making thumping sounds with every impact.

"OOOOO tag team!" Fiona laughed, "grab that wee blue bag... it has some sparkly pins in it!" Fi slipped her shoes off and dashed into her bedroom for a comb and a couple of hair bands.

In rather short order poor Yuna became Starfleet's first life-sized Trill Barbie doll. It would have stopped with the hair, but even as the duo worked, high and low, they began adding suggestions.

"A bit of matching eyeshadow maybe..."
"Just a little...make her eyes smoky"
"Oh of course... lashes y'think?"
"Aye a little darker... pass me that berry colored gloss"
"Oh, perfect choice... "
"You have fantastic cheekbones, Yuna, we really could set them off with a little blush..."
"See, same color as your spots, just subtly though..."
"No powder, right?"
"Noooo she's got a nice glow from tha sun today"
"Plus we wouldna want ta hide those elegant spots"

The Trill security officer could feel that Fiona was doing something that felt complicated to the braid that Char had put in. The academic amazon was handing the excitable engineer hairpins at an alarming rate as she worked like a surgeon.

"I think I went to grim to glam in about 3 seconds flat," Yuna mumbled to herself, wondering if she was REALLY that bad a looking to need all this... assistance... in the first place.

"Hold still...almost done"
"One there?"
"Yah"
"There?"
"Nah, there an there tho... they canna be seen, ken?"
"SO pretty!"
"Oooh aye! Her hair looks like spun silk, eh?"

"Really should have taken these boots off for this... my knees are going to get a workout tonight," the towering tease muttered.

"She needs a necklace..." Fi said, but otherwise she had a cat-eating-canary grin.

"That big red one there that looks like teardrops," Charybdis pointed.

Fiona wrinkled her nose slightly. "Noo... something less .. laird when did I buy that? I'm thinkn' those crystals... she's verra elegant."

"Ummmm, what are you lot DOING?" Yuna squeaked, not liking all the girly attention. " I'm not THAT ugly you know!" Her spots darkened as her face turned red with embarrassment.

"Oh whist an' look at yerself... you're gorgeous, ya daft dotty creature!"

"Yuna, you're far from ugly. You're quite beautiful, in fact... you just invited us to do a little, so... well, we did what we know. To accentuate what is already there... that is the purpose of clothing, makeup and jewelry... to simply showcase the beauty that is already present, to accentuate it and make it all shine!' Char smiled genuinely at her, beaming proudly as she crouched behind her.

They spun her around to face a mirror, to show her the breathtaking sight that awaited her.

The trill's hair hung down her back in a glossy intricately braided rope that was dotted with tiny stars that twinkled with each tilt and turn of her head. Her makeup was subtle, just accenting what was already there. Her eyes were dramatic and smoky and her lips looked lush and recently kissed. Char was sex on stacked boots, qhile Fiona was adorable. But the Trill was the definition of elegant. She looked exotic, regal and expensive.

Fi looked up at Char. "I think I might have to hate her now... that dress never looked as good on me!" she laughed.

"It's YOUR dress, I just borrowed and... amended it," Yuna retorted, turning this way and that to regard her reflection in the mirror. She'd never looked like this ever before in her life.

The little redhead shook her mane of curls from side to side. "No... it's your dress now... it just told me it wants to go home with ya," she said cheerfully.

"You do look pretty spectacular Yuna... you look as though you could be at a royal function..." she snapped her fingers. "You look like just like a princess!"

"Don't tell my old boyfriend that," Yuna snorted. "But thank you for the dress Fi, I really do appreciate it. I got nuffin on that ship, no shoes, no dresses, nuffin," she emphasized the words.

"Hmmm..sounds like more shopping tomorrow!" Fi laughed and gave the Trill a hug. The Vulcan patted her on the back. "And I will get your stuff shipped from the Kurrajong, I promise. It is bouncing between starbases and transports and it has been giving me the devil's own time... to use one of Fiona's colorful colloquialisms."

"It's bouncing? Well I hope it ain't bouncing too much, you'll break all my stuff!" Yuna giggled, giving herself another once over in the mirror. Yep, she most definitely looked hot.

That got a cheerful laugh from the wee Scot.

The black-clad buxom beauty stood up straight, literally towering over her petite fellows and called out in a commanding voice. "SELUUUUUUNE! Thirty-six hours of shore leave left, but the night is getting no younger! Here, kitty kitty kitty!" She glanced down at the other two and shrugged seismically. "What? It applies here..."

"If you call her kitty again I swear she's gonna swipe your nose off like a cat would," Yuna retorted, inclining her eyebrow to let Char know she wasn't being completely serious.

"It's okay, if I rub her belly she'll calm right back down," Char shot back with a grin. She tapped her booted foot impatiently. "Does she have to brush all of the fur? What takes that girl so long to get ready...?"

"She has such marvelous fur," Fiona chuckled. "I do imagine it would take a bit to keep it looking so grand. She's so white... and so fluffy," the redhead sighed. "I have tha hardest time not petting her. Bless her she's marvelous patient wi' me... well, wi' all oov us really. I hope she kens thet we're no meanin any disrespect when we call her kitty."

"I know... I mean, I am not sure about the kitty part, but it really is hard not to pet her! We'll be talking and I notice my hand moving that way to just do it... or when I am trying to give her advice or counsel her it is SO HARD not to just pet her and scritch her ears!" Char paused at that and crossed her eyes. "And of course, she can hear us right now..."

About halfway through Char's speech Fiona had started giggling. "Aye," she nodded. "She's reet behind ye."

"My ears are only burning a little..." Selune murmured from behind Chary, having padded silently from her room, "Is it really that hard to resist?"

Fiona nodded vigorously "Oh, aye." Char shrugged and nodded sheepishly.

The cheerful scot seemed to be thinking. "We're frum sooch different cultures I think thet it wuid be interesting to learn more aboot one another's people... if for no other reason then tae keep oos froom breaking cultural taboos," she gave a little shrug. "When we git beck from shore leave why don't we do like a dinner in a week. Each oov us doing something verra traditional. Ya kin tae teach one anoother aboot our people."

"Sounds good to me, although there's nothing too weird about us Trills," Yuna admitted, shrugging her shoulders. "I would like to learn more about everyone else though, it seems like a good place to start with dinner."

With a laugh, Selune shrugged self-consciously. "Sounds fun, you'll probably find Caitians boring, though."

The sultry scientist strode back from the bar with four glasses in her hand and a bottle, then proceeded to set them down on the table and began worrying the cork out of the bottle. "That's a brilliant idea Fiona, and I would love to do that. Honestly we can skip Vulcan culture, but I would love to learn more about your cultures... because you are all my friends, and I'd rather respect your traditions than ignore them." The cork popped and bubbly fizzy liquid fountained out, and she splashed it around the table enough to get at least some of it in the glasses.

"Fiona m'love, how about a toast, since it is your culture's tradition?" Charybdis offered.

Fiona chuckled " Alreet... I'll gie ye one thet's kind oov a tradition with friends and family." She cleared her throat and straightened up very formally and intoned with just a hint of mischief in her tone. "Here's to you and here's to me, truer friends there'll nivver be. And if in time our ways shuid part..." she paused and tossed her curls back. "Screw you...here's tae me"

Yuna nearly snorted. "To you? What about the rest of us?!" she retorted.

"Ah thet's tha answer... everyone says Screw you, here's tae me!"

"It's supposed tae be funny."

The human looked at the three aliens who were all staring at her blankly, as once again one of her jokes fell completely flat- a human experience that apparently did not translate well.

"Humans have strange senses of humor, you know," Selune called out, voicing her sagely knowledge on the matter.

Despite herself, Fi laughed at that. "Aye"

"Here's to the cultural experiment... the cultural exchange that is the Federation. Spanning the galaxy, bringing cultures together, protecting the weak and the innocent... and it brought all of us together to become friends. So I'll drink to that," Charybdis said with a wistful smile, holding her glass high.

"Indeed," Fiona lifted her glass.

"Wow, bloody long winded toast, but here's to US!" Yuna chimed in, extending her glass and clinking it with those around her.

Hesitantly raising her glass, Selune chipped in with a small, "Here? Here?"

The cheer went up and the bubbly went down. Char tossed the glass over her shoulder, clapped her hands together and rubbed them vigorously. "Okay ladies... it's time to make our debut!"

"Bring it on!" Yuna announced, leaving her traditional rebel yell for a later and more appropriate time.
