Patrick had managed to gut out his duty shift on the bridge. As soon as the new shift entered the bridge he made his way to his quarters in hopes that he could stem the tide a bit. Getting to his quarters his changed into something a bit less restrictive than his duty uniform. He found some leisure wear and sat in his quarters with a whiskey in one hand and a book in the other. But after finishing his drink and reading the same page three times, he determined that he needed to get out of his quarters and maybe have a meal.

He got to the captain's mess and got himself a plate of comfort food, well, at least for an Irishman. Cornbeef, boiled potatoes, cabbage, and sodabread, with a large glass of milk to wash it all down. He made quick work of the meal, and made a note that he needed to thank the cook for such a fine meal. It helped a bit, though his mind was still preoccupied. So he went to the gym in hopes of working over the punching bag a bit.

The gym was sparsely populated, so Patrick had the big bag to himself. He gloved up and took to it. He bludgeoned the bag with everything he had, to the point that others in the gym stopped what they were doing to watch. It was a marvelous display of pugilism, and he had worked up quite a sweat from it, but alas, it had not taken his mind off the good Charybdis. and so, he decided he had but one choice left to him, the doctor.

Once he had cleaned up, he made his way to sickbay. He entered the room and looked around. A few nurses were moving about, and then he spotted the doctor. He moved to the doctor and gave the doctor a bit of a surprise as he came up from behind. "Doctor, I require your expertise. Do you have a minute to talk and treat me?"

"I can make some," Siivas said as he turned and set down a large bowl of noodles, peppers, milky broth with red oil on tip, some sort of shellfish and greens floating in. From where the captain stood it smelled spicy enough to make nose-hairs fall out and clearly, the Doctor enjoyed it as he set the chopsticks down over the rim of the bowl.

"Doctor, you may be the only person on this ship that can help me." he said as the two moved to the doctor's office, the door closing behind him. "I know Deltans have to take an oath of celibacy to serve in StarFleet, so I apologize in advance in what I need to talk to you about causes you any discomfort. See, the problem I have..." he fell silent for a moment. Before the doctor could coax it out of him he began again, "...I believe that I have a medical condition, in layman terms, love at first sight. I mean, it is certain based in Eros, but I feel it has elements of Agape as well. I can't be dealing with this at this moment, and I need you to cure me of it."

Siivas chuckled, "Unless you're asking me to castrate you captain, chemically or physiologically, there's no cure for lust. And, for the record captain, you're welcome to check mine, I never took that oath. I never needed it when I served on the Liberty back before there was a Starfleet or before on my Human parent's ship and I'll not start making promises I don't intend to keep." He paused and gave the captain a measuring look, "Now, if you want to learn how to control all of that," he idly gestured with one hand in the general direction of Patrick's heart and groin, "I can help you learn Discipline." The way he said it, Patrick could hear the capitalized 'D'.

"I don't mind discipline. I have gone through full Vulcan meditations to control emotions with Vulcan masters, and survived to be here today. And I trust you in regards to your anatomy doctor, and I'd like to keep mine. But I must tell you, while lust is certainly part of this, it goes beyond that. I have experienced this only once before, with a young lass named Molly in my Academy days. It nearly destroyed me when she left. So yes, if you think you can help me gain some measure of control of this, that would be quite helpful. I wouldn't be an effective CO if all I could think of is what i want to do to the beautiful science officer. So please, I will try anything, outside of losing my genitals. Despite my age, I do believe it would make my sainted mother happy if i could provide her with a grandchild." The look of desperation was obvious. He was serious and wanted to gain control, that was obvious.

"Vulcan meditations are wonderful if you want to be a Vulcan captain," Siivas replied with a broad smile. "But if you want to be an emotional being who can control those emotions and can control your own mind, you need to learn what causes it to behave the way it does. Humans are one of the most sexually immature species in the galaxy but," he raised a finger to pause, "you have the greatest potential to rise above yourselves, when you have motivation. And if you want to be the man our Lady of Vulcan needs, you will need to be able to master yourself."

Patrick tried to hide his shock by the candidness of the doctor. It was a bluntness that he seldom encountered outside of dealing with Vulcans. It was also something he quite admired in an officer. "Sexually immature? I suppose you mean our sexual mindsets as a whole rather than my actual knowledge of the subject matter. I can't deny that. Many a human still can't accept some of the sexual beliefs and practices of other species. I suspect if they were aware of how sex is viewed by some of the newer races I have encountered in my time in Starfleet, such as the Betazoids, they would really blush. Yes doctor, I'd like to gain control. I imagine this might be a bit like tantra. It could really work to my advantage."

"Good," Siivas nodded. "When would you like to begin?"

"The sooner the better. We have 37 hours aboard the ship before we even reach the planet, and I have to be on the bridge with her in the morning. Perhaps this evening would work for you, say 1900. Gives me time to catch a meal and go over some reports. Will that work for you doctor?"

Siivas smiled, "For the captain, I have all the time in the world. I'll be by your quarters at 1900."

"Appreciated doctor." The Irishman turned and exited, heading back to his quarters to attempt to get some work done.
