Mission: Operation: Risa!
Location: Risa, T'skani Province, private lagoon #13
Timeline: 2265

Patrick swam in the azure water, his strokes strong and full of emotion as he pushed out of the lagoon and into the vast openness. His mind was filled with emotions and arguments and things that were said. The argument with Charybdis had left him quite put off, and despite her words to him, despite the fact that she took the blame for the situation, he knew that deep down, somehow, he was going to be to blame for this. Once word of this got to the ship, he was certain the gossip grapevine would spread the information quickly, and then he would be under judgement by everyone.

The last part is what was seemingly upsetting him the most at this point. He was going to be blamed for it. He didn't care that people would look at him differently, only that he was going to be looked at as an ass. No matter how much evolution had taken place, humans still always found the man to be the guilty party in a break up.

As he swam to shore he began to curse internally at the situation. She hadn't joined him in the water, and as he looked into the bungalow he could see she had left, which infuriated him more. She had told him that she wanted a relationship, but she wanted one on her terms. He couldn't believe the arrogant presumption. And then to tell him that what he was feeling. or more to the point, that he wasn't showing enough of his feelings to her was insufficient only seemed to make him angrier.

He paced inside the bungaloo, deep with his own thoughts. He began to speak aloud to himself, "Why can't a woman be more like a man? Why must they always muddy the waters, and tell you that you are insufficient when you don't do exactly what they want you to do? They can't be so clueless can they? Does she really not understand that i have certain obligations that must be fulfilled, that must take precedence?" He stopped and looked at himself in a floor to ceiling mirror. The anger had subsided from his face, and he watched himself as his chest rose and fell, the residual water slowly dripping down his muscled physique. "I bet she expects me to come running to her, like some lonesome puppy that craves attention. And perhaps I should, but that is not going to happen. If she couldn't see my emotions for her before, why should I expect her to see them this go around? Let her have a day or two to consider the situation, and I will do the same."

He walked into the bedroom and dried off and changed into something light and laid down on the bed. "It is a universal constant that women will always over complicate relationships" he said aloud. "How we ever manage to keep population up and remain civil is beyond me." He closed his eyes and drifted off to sleep.
