Mission: Operation: Risa!
Location: Risa, Roma Arcology, Empress hotel penthouse suite
Timeline: 2265

The sultry scientist checked her reflection in the mirror and grinned. Rome was never going to know what hit it- Discordia had come to town, and she'd brought Bellona, Victoria and Fuga with her. The goddesses of old had come to Rome to be worshiped, to revel and to sow discord.

Somehow Charybdis didn't imagine that her friends would necessarily appreciate the goddesses with which she was associating them, but then, she also doubted that their knowledge of Roman gods and goddesses would necessarily enable them to identify the archetypes with which she was associating them, either.

It looked like the rest of the girls were still getting ready, so the dutiful officer decided that she may as well check in with the ship. It was somehow doubtful that they needed her for anything- orbit above Risa was a crowded place, and with the neutrality that Risa enjoyed despite being a member of the Federation no one would dare bother a heavy cruiser unless a full-scale invasion was occurring, and if that were the case then she would most likely be aware of the situation already. She flipped out her communicator and tuned it.

"Lieutenant Commander Charybdis to Bonne Chance, Lieutenant Commander Charybdis to Bonne Chance," she called, and almost immediately the answer came through. "This is Bonne Chance, go ahead Lieutenant Commander."

Pleased by the prompt reply, she considered for a moment. "Lieutenant Junior Grade Andurean? I had thought that you were Alpha Shift today?"

"I traded a shift with Ensign Rondborstig so that she could extend her leave for two days in a row. The change in the roster was filed and approved, Commander. What can I do for you today?" Andurean was all business, as usual, and it brought a smile to her face. Professionalism was to be admired, yet she knew that he was making an effort to be personable with her.

"I am certain that you and the Ensign followed procedures to the letter, Lieutenant- your department are consummate professionals, and I thank you. I appreciate your attention to procedural details. Please patch me through to Lieutenant Exeter, if you will," Char expressed. It cost nothing to let the crew know that even the small details were noticed and appreciated.

"This is Lieutenant Exeter, Commander." By the book- no discussion, no small talk and no chattiness, just direct communication. But then, he was commanding the bridge in the absence of both herself and O'Conner, so she would prefer someone who was no-nonsense and did not take their duties lightly, despite her own occasionally casual style of leadership. The man was apparently born in Starfleet gold, and while he reminded her somewhat of Lieutenant Commander Henri Clay- the executive officer of her former command, the Antares- she outranked Exeter, and thus she did not have to endure his orders so much as enjoy the benefits of him running a tight ship with the responsibility with which he was entrusted.

"I am simply checking in for a status report, Lieutenant. I am preparing to engage in some extracurricular activities, thus I thought to check in and see if there is anything that you might possibly need from me before I proceed?" She wanted to find a way to express her interest and availability without invasive or being patronizing. She needn't have worried.

"You're on leave, Lieutenant Commander. Please, enjoy yourself- you can do that for the ship. Bonne Chance is in good hands, we are at condition green in a stable orbit and should any of that change you will be the second officer notified, ma'am." She smiled at the communicator... that was practically warmth for Exeter.

"I will do just that, Lieutenant. Thank you for the status report, and I will certainly endeavor to do just that. I appreciate your vigilance... Charybdis out." She flipped the communicator closed, then tucked it back into the zippered pocket of the leather jacket. A good crew, they were... she had to give O'Conner credit, he had chosen wisely when filling out the roster of the Bonne Chance. He understood how that worked, at least.

The communicator would be kept handy anyway... as Suval had once reminded her, Starfleet officers were always on duty. While she did not hold to that principle in the past, she was now First Officer... and the crew was her responsibility. She took it quite seriously, but at the same time, she welcomed it.

They were her crew, and a good crew they were. She smiled as she sashayed into the main chamber, ready to greet her friends and begin the good times.
