Mission:
Taking Chances
Location: USS Bonne Chance, Deck 6, Sickbay
Timeline: 2265
Andurean, having been bade to head to medical for his medical exam only stopped long enough to call for his replacement. Down the lift and down a corridor and he stood before the entrance of medical, the caduceus on the doors clear even with the signs on both sides of the frosted white transparent-aluminum doors. Andurean pulled down his tunic and stepped forward, entering into the medical waiting area.
A short human woman of Asian descent paused as she walked past, backed up, gave him the once over and smiled brightly and motioned him forward. She offered her hand to shake and introduced herself, "Chief Nurse Xian. How can medical help you today lieutenant...?"
"Andurean," he smiled, taking her hand and holding it firmly as they met eyes. She smiled wider as they traded empathic greetings and she proved a touch more sensitive than he had anticipated.
"You're here to see the Doctor for your physical," she released his hand gently but not before soothing his slight embarrassment, revealing she had been undergoing training to sharpen her abilities. "He's stepped out for a minute," she shrugged, "but I can do the necessary scans and paperwork for you."
"That would be agreeable," he retreated back into his work persona, his Duelist training reinitializing itself in defense. He didn't even realize he'd done it and Xian, the Head Nurse, was too polite to point it out. But she made a note of it to mention to the doctor.
With a nod, she gestured for him to follow her and lead him into an examination alcove and bed so that she could conduct the mandatory screening. She gestured and once he was settled, she began the scans.
She decided to treat him as she would a Vulcan, remained open to whatever she could and essentially ignored him with her body language. The scans though, they were interesting. ~Kolari and hmm, some Vulcan DNA in here I see. Generational reinforcement. Breeding Program? Selective Breeding?~ she considered to herself.
~He's Kolari~ Shareen commented telepathically from another part of the medical bay, out of sight ~If he spent his early years as a slave, the Source only knows what kind of breeding stock he came from. That mental training though and that serpent, that comes from only one place I know of~
~And that is?~ Xian asked.
~I... can't tell you Xian~ Shareen apologized ~I'm sorry I even said as much as I did. This is a very dangerous topic and you must shield that deep in your mind. I'll tell my cousin what I did so he can put a block on it for you but... yes, very dangerous~
Xian did as she had been bade and moved the memory deep into her memories, pausing and alowing the scans to work. She opened her eyes to find the Kolari watching her intently.
"You are a telepath," he declared softly. "You've learned how to order your mind."
She realized she'd been made and in the process, had been called out on it right then and there. "Yes, I was centering."
"Its a good skill to have," he commented and turned his body towards her as the console beeped. "My examination is completed."
"It is," she agreed and entered a few commands and pulled out the data card and moved it to the machine to her left and slotted it to be copied to the computer memory banks. "You're exceptionally healthy. Your exercise regimen is impressive."
"An application of discipline," he commented idly, watching her eyes.
"That's what Thess calls it too," she blurted out and then blushed, feeling hot and a bit more bothered than she had in a bit. She fanned herself with one hand and stepped back and moved away, taking a deep breath and clearing her head of his nearness.
Andurean let her go, and stroked his serpent gently with his fingertips, sliding off of the medical bed and without looking back, left the medical bay.
